First Time Taking CBD? Guide for Newcomers

Here at Highline Wellness, we’re on a mission to make a more pleasant world, one dose at a time. We want to give everyone access to a more peaceful state of mind and body!

If it’s your first time taking CBD, we’re here to guide you! It’s actually simple and easy to take CBD and incorporate it into your lifestyle. This guide will help you figure out which form of CBD is best for you, as well as your dosing and frequency!

About Broad-Spectrum CBD

There are three main types of CBD that are sold:

  • Full-spectrum
  • Broad-spectrum
  • Isolate

All of the products at Highline Wellness are formulated with broad-spectrum CBD. Broad-spectrum CBD has no THC (the property that gives you a high), but it still retains all of the other valuable terpenes and cannabinoids that are naturally found in the hemp plant. These give what’s referred to as the “entourage effect”—which is just a fancy way to say that all of the properties in the product work together to give you benefits, versus just having pure CBD isolate.

Forms of CBD

When you’re taking CBD for the first time, you might wonder which form you should take it in. There are quite a few options available, and each has its benefits!

Oil

CBD oil is taken by placing the oil under your tongue and holding it there for 60–90 seconds, then swallowing. Many people also incorporate it into beverages, like coffee or a smoothie!

Many people don’t like the taste of pure CBD oil as it can taste grassy, which is why we offer Mint and Citrus CBD oil. Both flavors are formulated with all-natural, organic flavors.

Best if you want:

  • Immediate relief
  • Flexible dosing

Topicals

CBD topicals are applied directly to the skin, usually in the form of a cream or oil. If you’re looking for physical relief in your joints or muscles, topicals are the best option for you because you’ll get results exactly where you need it.

Best if you want:

  • Targeted physical relief

Gummies

Gummies are the preferred option of many people, because they are easy to take and taste great! They’re discreet and are easy to incorporate into your morning or evening routine!

Highline Wellness offers Day Gummies, formulated with B12 for energy and clarity, and Night Gummies, with melatonin to help you fall and stay asleep.

Best if you want:

  • Ease
  • Different formulations for day and night

How to Take CBD

One of the main questions people have when they take CBD for the first time is how exactly they should take it! Of course, that depends on the form you take CBD in, but there are a few general steps to taking CBD to ensure you get the best results.

Dosage

We recommend starting out with 8–10mg of CBD, which will vary depending on your product. (That’s one Highline Wellness gummy, and one dropper-full of our CBD oil.) It’s absolutely important to start with a small dosage—likely less than you think—in order to figure out what the best dosage is for you and your body.

Stick with the same dosage for 30 days to give your body time to adjust. If you’re ready to increase your dosing, we recommend doing so very slowly to ensure you get just the right amount for your needs!

As a general guideline, we recommend this dosage based on your pain or stress levels:

  • None–mild = 1mg per 10 lbs
  • Medium = 1.5mg per 10lbs
  • Strong = 2mg per 10lbs

NOTE: Everyone is different, and this is just a suggestion based on weight. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is a dietary supplement and isn’t intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease.

Frequency

It might be tempting to take CBD multiple times a day, as soon as you start to feel the effects wear off. We recommend taking CBD twice a day—one dose in the morning, and one dose at night—to start off with.

What to Expect

If you’ve never taken CBD before, you might be wondering what to expect when you take it for the first time!

At first, you might not notice a huge change in your day-to-day life. Many people want to see quick, immediate results, but as we stated earlier, it’s best to stick with the same routine for 30 days to let your body adjust!

However, over the course of those 30 days, you’ll likely notice a subtle difference in how you feel. You might feel less anxious or less stressed, or you might feel an alleviation of some muscle and joint tension. It can be helpful to keep a log of how you feel so that you can see how it improves over time!

Tips

Start Small

Like we mentioned earlier, it’s important to start small with your dosing. While there are no major side effects to taking CBD, you want to start small so that you can take the exact right amount for your body and needs.

Give it Time

If it’s been 30 minutes and you don’t feel any different, don’t worry! It takes time for the effects of CBD to kick in, so don’t automatically think it’s not working and either give up or take another dose. It takes time, so don’t give up if you don’t notice immediate results!

Adjust Dosage

With all that being said, you will likely have to adjust your dosage to find what works best for you. You might only need half a dropper, or you might take two gummies. (We do offer varying potencies of gummies, so that once you find your ideal dosage you can take one gummy!)

Of course, if you are feeling more stressed, you can adjust your dosage temporarily and then go back to your usual dosage.

Drink Water

It’s so important to stay hydrated in general, but especially when you take CBD! Drinking plenty of water will ensure that your body is functioning properly and will be able to function at its healthiest! You’ll get the most out of your CBD product that way.
