CBD for Stress: The Latest Research

Does CBD work for stress? That’s exactly what we’re here to discuss.

Research is currently being conducted to learn much more about the potential effects and benefits of CBD for stress and a variety of other conditions, but it’s becoming more and more popular as an all-natural remedy. Research is ongoing and is likely to be a topic for years to come, but several studies shared by Heathline seem to suggest that CBD can have positive effects on those experiencing stress. Other conditions that seem to benefit from CBD include chronic pain, sciatica, anxiety, and insomnia.

A 2015 study published in Neurotherapeutics found that “existing preclinical evidence strongly supports CBD as a treatment for generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder when administered acutely.”

For example, one review conducted in 2020 took a look at 76 research studies published in 2019 and 2020 on CBD’s effects on conditions like stress, anxiety, dementia, and depression, concluding that CBD is likely a promising treatment for stress and anxiety.

One more study that took place in 2020 explored the effects of CBD for stress on a group of 15 individuals. In this study, the results found that CBD could potentially benefit a range of mental health-related conditions, including post-traumatic stress disorder.

How to Know It’s Safe

With so many CBD oils, CBD gummies, and other products available these days, it can be tough to know how to find the right ones. Luckily, there are a few simple factors to look for that will help you trust the quality and safety of products when you’re hunting for the best CBD gummies for anxiety and stress.

What are those factors? Well, not to toot our own horn, but Highline passes them all with flying colors! Let’s take a closer look:

– Our CBD is only cultivated from the highest quality hemp, 100% natural and free of chemicals.

– It contains the advertised amount of CBD on the product, which you can see for yourself on the certificates of analysis we include on each product page.

– Our products have all passed tests for pesticides and heavy metals.

– Lastly, they’ve all been third-party tested by compliant labs!

Ways to Use CBD Oil For Stress

How much should you take?

Before we discuss when, let’s talk about how much to take! It’s generally best to begin with small doses and work your way up if you don’t feel the effects. Our CBD oils come with graduated markings to indicate how much, as well as different strength varieties to be purchased, ranging from 250mg to 500mg and all the way up to 1000mg.

A small dose is between 20mg and 40mg, so if you’re using a tincture with the 250mg strength, the dropper provides 8mg per dose. (Check out our helpful Guide on How Much CBD to Take for a bit more info on dosing!)

If you’re worried about taking too much, know that a 2011 study revealed that 1500 mg per day is considered safe for humans. But as with any other new supplement or vitamin, if you have concerns about trying CBD for stress the first time, consult your doctor.

Take in the morning

For people who experience ongoing stress on a daily basis, it may be helpful to incorporate CBD into your everyday routine. Over time, you’ll likely notice a greater sense of calm and well-being, thanks to the way that CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system. Less stress and more time to get focused!

Whether you choose to take a Day Gummy with breakfast or put a few drops of CBD Oil into your coffee, consider taking a dose of CBD every morning.

Take before or during a stressful moment

Some moments are more stressful than others—like when you have to give a big presentation, stay with your in-laws, or go on your first date in who knows how long. When these moments happen, a dose of CBD may be just the thing to support these stressful situations.

Place a dropper-full of CBD Oil under your tongue or chew an Anytime Gummy to prepare yourself for whatever’s about to come your way. When that headache-inducing moment does come, you’ll be ready to take it on.

Take in the evening before bed

When we’re stressed, we often have trouble sleeping. Our brains can’t seem to shut off, and we lie awake in bed thinking about every embarrassing thing we’ve ever done, our big meeting at work tomorrow, or whether our latest Tinder match is actually into us.

Consistently having poor sleep patterns can lead to more stress during the day, and then we get stressed that we’re not sleeping well, so we have trouble falling asleep, which makes us more stressed during the day… And then we’re stuck in this stress pattern.

Chew a Night Gummy30 minutes before bed. You may find that you have an easier time falling asleep and will stay asleep throughout the night—meaning you’ll wake up feeling refreshed, well-rested, and ready to tackle your day. CBD interacts with certain receptors in the brain in a way that may potentially alter serotonin signals, promoting a calm sense of well-being, which in turn can help you fall asleep and stay asleep!

Incorporate Other Healthy Habits

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that CBD for stress is best used in conjunction with other stress-relieving, healthy habits. We’re looking at you: exercise, meditation, and healthy eating. Don’t forget that humans are pretty much giant plants: with plenty of water and some sunlight, we’re likely to grow into our healthiest, happiest selves! As always, talk with your doctor about your stress and any new supplements before taking them.
